What is the CYFA?
The CYFA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community organization comprised strictly of volunteers and operated exclusively to promote youth amateur football competition in the central Arkansas area.

Are my donations tax deductible?
Yes, the CYFA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations fall under guidelines specifically for 501(c) organizations regarding tax deductions. You should consult your tax advisor for specific information with regards to how your donations will be handled for a 501(c)(3) organization.

Is this a flag or tackle league?
The CYFA is a full contact, tackle league. The local flag football is league overseen by Cabot Parks and Recreation.

Are these kids too young for tackle football?
Determining when your child is ready for full contact football is something only you as a parent can decide. Kids develop at vastly different rates in their early years. The CYFA has over 400 kids annually particpating in the league and contact youth football continues to grow across the country.

Should the kids play non-contact football so they can learn the game and focus on contact later?
That is another question that only you as a parent can decide. There are many aspects of the game of football that do not involve contact and the greats of the game not only excel in the physical aspects but the mental aspects of the game. The two go hand in hand however the most basic fundamentals of the game of football are blocking and tackling. Learning both now will help prepare them for football in their later years when practice time is limited and those who have been been involved in both aspects of the game will have a distinct advantage.

When is registration?
Registration generally occurs the last three Saturdays of summer before the first day of school. Check out the calendar on our home page for specific dates and times.

What equipment does the league provide?
The CYFA provides players with a game jersey and game pants. All protective equipment including helmets, shoulder pads, leg and hip pads, mouth pieces, and cleats are the responsibility of the player.

What days are games on?
The regular season generally lasts about eight weeks. Games are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thurdays, and Saturdays. Teams never have more than two games per week and some weeks only have one game per week.

What days are practices and where are they held?
Practice days and locations are up to individual coaches. After the draft, your coach will contact you and let you know the details of practices. Practices should not be held on Wednesdays and Sundays.

What are the mandatory playing times for players?
All players must play the entire first and third quarters on either offense or defense. The second and fourth quarters and any overtime a game may go into is free substitution.

What other costs are there besides registration?
All players are responsible for providing their own helmet, shoulder pads, leg and hip pads, and shoes. The registration fee is the only money collected by the CYFA for the entire season.

I am interested in coaching. How do I get involved?
Simply let us know you are interested and we will walk you through the process. Coaches are selected on criteria defined in our By-Laws which are based on tenure. Many years we have open head coaching slots right up until season starts. If there are no head coaching slots, there are generally head coaches looking for assistants and we can help you make contact.
